On the anniversary of the International Human Rights Day
Three international bodies say: This year is the most violated of human rights
On the anniversary of the issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948, since that date, the peoples of the world celebrate this important historic day for what it includes of human and moral meanings that organize the lives of societies and restore them to their humanity through what the human rights charters include of basic and natural rights and freedoms for every human being, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religion, skin color, or political affiliation.
At the same time that standards of commitment to these texts and lofty principles were set, which were agreed upon by all spectrums of the world, we are still witnessing many serious violations, restrictions, and others that make these laws ink on paper since that date until the anniversary of the day, which coincides with the spread of wars and armed conflicts in many regions, especially in the Middle East, in addition to the growth of many terrorist organizations that have eliminated all concepts of human rights and the human being has become a commodity or a mere tool for the continuation of wars and the killing of human beings by human beings.
Major threats occurred during this last year 2016, the largest share of which was in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, from killing, destruction, displacement and torture, as these violations were practiced based on sectarian strife and countries imposing their hegemony and interfering in the affairs of other countries with the aim of overthrowing them and spreading chaos in them, according to human rights reports issued by international and national organizations.
This year also witnessed a crackdown on human rights organizations and their representatives in the Middle East region in particular.
On the other hand, this year witnessed an unprecedented increase in violations of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, with the spread of poverty and unemployment in most developing countries.
This year also witnessed a severe decline in the rights of children, women, people with disabilities and marginalized groups, making it difficult for them to obtain their legitimate rights.
The international organizations that signed the statement: the Arab-European Center for Human Rights and International Law, the International Organization for Human Rights, and the International Network for Human Rights Monitor, renew their call to the international community for urgent intervention to stop all armed conflicts in the Middle East region, for all governments of the world to commit to international human rights conventions, and for the need to apply international human rights standards fairly and to abolish the veto right that allows for the absence of real and serious solutions to stop armed conflicts through international mechanisms for the protection of human rights in the world.
